We’re thrilled to introduce our latest arrival: a truly exceptional Excelso coffee from the heart of Colombia! This isn’t just any coffee; it’s a carefully cultivated blend, bursting with flavor and embodying the rich traditions of Colombian coffee farming.

This particular batch was harvested in late June/early July 2024, right at the beginning of the mitaca season (April to June) – one of the two key harvest periods in Colombia.

What makes this coffee so special?

It all starts with the beans. They’re 100% Excelso, a premium classification known for its consistent size and superior quality. These beans are slightly smaller than the coveted Supremo beans, falling within the 14-16 screen size. The grading process is meticulous, with the beans sorted by diameter as they pass through a series of screens.

But the real magic happens long before the screening. Our beans are hand-selected by incredibly skilled women, experts in identifying the very best cherries. Their trained eyes ensure that only the highest quality beans make the cut. We then store the beans with the utmost care, first in Graipro bags for optimal preservation, and then double-bagged in traditional fique bags. This double-bagging helps protect the beans and maintain their freshness.

The result?

A coffee with a distinct character and a flavor profile that truly shines. While the individual components of this blend score between 85 and 90, the final cupping score falls within that range, delivering a balanced and nuanced experience. It’s a specialty-grade coffee that we’re incredibly proud to offer.

We source our coffee twice a year, aligning with the main harvest season (October to December) and the mitaca. This allows us to bring you the freshest and most flavorful beans possible. We take storage seriously, ensuring our coffee maintains its exceptional quality. Here in Malmö, we keep it in a carefully controlled environment, following these best practices:

  • Dry and cool place: We maintain a humidity level between 50-60% and a temperature of 15-25°C (59-77°F).
  • Airtight containers: We use opaque and airtight containers to protect the beans from air and light.
  • Avoid light and oxygen: Our coffee is stored in a dark place, away from any direct contact with air.
